MANILA FIND: A RESTAURANT WHERE YOUR TODDLER CAN MAKE HIS/HER OWN PIZZA

The other night, our toddler suddenly told us: “I want to eat in a restaurant.” It’s a good thing we really weren’t planning on having Daday cook dinner for us because she had to go somewhere, so we asked him what he wanted to eat: “Pizza and Fries”, he said. We finally got to eat in Amare La Cucina in Baguio last December (it had been there quite a while, and had been on my list forever – but only […]

BEACH ACTIVITIES FOR TODDLERS

My son loves the beach! Whenever he sees photos of a beach, he would tell us, “go to the beach!” At first, I would spend a long time thinking about how I can prepare him for the beach, what materials I can bring to enhance his experience, etc. Do I bring a book? Miniatures? Toys? Lots of stuff for sandcastle building? Should I just bring our whole house? After several trips to the beach, this is what I now believe […]

MY FAVORITE BOOKSTORES IN MANILA

When we think of bookstores in Metro Manila, three chains immediately come to mind: Fully Booked, National Bookstore, and Power Books. Actually, maybe Goodwill, too. I do go to those bookstores and enjoy my finds from there every now and then (especially Power Books in Podium, and Fully Booked in BGC), but there are other bookstores I really love visiting! Today, let me share with you my favorites (in no particular order) and why!:) 1. ARTBOOKS.PH Located along Pioneer Street, […]

DAYTRIP FROM MANILA: BURROW CAFE (GORGEOUS CAFE WITH A STREAM FOR CHILDREN)

For this weekend, we decided to visit the newly-opened Burrow Cafe in Antipolo. It is an extension of the Instagram-famous Antipolo Beehouse which you can rent for shoots. My sister asked us if we wanted to visit, so off we went on a Saturday. Love the name BURROW CAFE, because it really is underground! You have to go through a series of steps (from the parking area) to reach the cafe. Not the best cafe for those having a hard […]

HIKING WITH A TODDLER

Whenever people ask me what parenting books I recommend, I send them the link of my list. But, I always tell my friends that if they can, I feel nothing beats reading Maria Montessori herself. You can start with all the books with practical suggestions and applications, but I feel that for me, the only way I can truly grasp her philosophy is by actually reading her work. When she explains something (that’s very simple but not something my common […]

DAYTRIP FROM MANILA: MOUNT PURRO (A PLAYGROUND HEAVEN IN ANTIPOLO)

I’ve first seen this when a friend of mine (Hi, Lacey!) was promoting it on her Facebook account. I think they were just starting then. It’s always been on the list, but I wasn’t sure just how kid-friendly it was. So anyway, one time, while we were planning the next #RIE session with P’s playmates, Teacher Tanya commented on how she enjoyed viewing our photos of our recent Baguio trip – where P went hiking, and then went on to […]

A BEAUTIFUL YEAR-END TRADITION FOR YOUR CHILDREN

I saw my sister’s post recently on her year-end activity with her son, and I think it’s so beautiful. This is what she wrote: If you are looking for something to do with your kids as the year ends, I recommend this. It is our second time to do this with Philip. I made a keynote of his entire year and especially focused on moments where he grew in character, spirit, faith, joy, sense of family, maturity, and relationships! I […]

CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN IDEAS

We have not yet started anything special to do a Christmas countdown this year, though in retrospect, I could have made time to prepare for it. It’s okay, we can begin next year. But before I forget my ideas, I better write them down here. A Christmas/Advent Countdown really depends on you. Basically, it’s one way to prepare for the coming of Christmas. For Christians, that would mean the coming of Jesus. But non-Christians who celebrate Christmas, it’s the coming […]
