MY FAVORITE BOOKSTORES IN MANILA

When we think of bookstores in Metro Manila, three chains immediately come to mind: Fully Booked, National Bookstore, and Power Books. Actually, maybe Goodwill, too. I do go to those bookstores and enjoy my finds from there every now and then (especially Power Books in Podium, and Fully Booked in BGC), but there are other bookstores I really love visiting! Today, let me share with you my favorites (in no particular order) and why!:) 1. ARTBOOKS.PH Located along Pioneer Street, […]

TRAVEL TIP: HOW TO BREASTFEED IN COLD DESTINATIONS

I posted some of our breastfeeding sessions in Paris, France during our recent trip in my Instagram account. This lead me to a lot of private messages from moms asking how I breastfeed in public using regular clothes and in a place like Paris during fall (transitioning to winter). First, I shared my process HERE on how I dress my son for the cold weather. I do the same for myself – I do a lot of layering. In the […]

CLOTH DIAPER STAINS 101

I get a lot of questions about cloth diapers. In our family, this is what works for us: P wears cloth diapers whenever we are at home or just going around the city. However, whenever we are out traveling, we switch to disposable diapers. Diaper space (especially for air travel) is always a challenge, plus the time factor in washing clothes. Speaking of washing, in a gist, a breastfed baby’s stool is usually very easy to clean because it’s mushy/soft, […]

GIFT GUIDE FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS, AND CHILDREN

If you’re following a lot of Montessori blogs/ sites/ social media accounts, you must have read a couple of gift guides for Montessori kids already. Since I don’t have a lot of time to blog regularly, I’ll skip that one first (and try to make my own next time) and blog about what you can gift children in general – no matter what parenting style their parents adhere to. See, before I became a parent, everytime we had to attend […]

WHERE TO FIND WINTER CLOTHES FOR BABIES IN MANILA

When I posted that I was packing for our trip on my Instagram stories, the question I got the most was: Where do you buy fall/winter clothes for your son? Let me share them with you here. First…let me tell you though, even if we only have 2 seasons in this country, these brands follow the 4-seasons, so they often come out with these outfits when the BER months start. OLD NAVY Old Navy often comes out with longsleeves, leggings, […]

A PEEK INSIDE MY HOSPITAL BAGS

Some of you have asked me if I have packed my hospital bag already. We’ve done it before I reached my 37th week, and we have two separate bags: one for me while I’m in labor (to post-birth), and the other for my baby when he’s born and I’m breastfeeding. #1: MY LABOR TO BIRTH BAG Please take note that I’m bringing things for my plan of a natural, normal birth (for the hospital we picked, we are eyeing the […]

MY MATERNITY MUST-HAVES

These are products I believe are worth investing on, and in the end, I feel that they’ve done their job in helping me save more. [2019 EDIT: Some of the links mentioned here are now under my affiliate account. This means that when you purchase the product/s using the links from my blog, I will earn credits or […]

CLASSES FOR EXPECTING PARENTS

Whenever I talk to parents who had their children years and years ago, they always tell me how lucky we are these days that there’s so much help around for parents-to-be. I agree completely. Back in the days, there was no Google to help us research, no social media to help us find like-minded communities, not much classes and seminars, and there weren’t many books to read for childbirth preparation. These days, I really believe it’s much easier to make […]

MY TRASH, MY TREASURE

I have been busy re-cleaning the house before my son arrives. Today, I decided to clean a drawer full of broken accessories. I kept them thinking I could be a jewelry maker someday, but let’s face it, that’s just not my thing and I’ll probably never be one. I know of Marie Kondo and appreciate the wisdom she tries to impart, but on days like this, I am just really happy to be a basurera [a Filipino term that means “garbage” […]

DO YOU KNOW WHAT GOES TO YOUR BABY’S SKIN?

Becoming a mother can suddenly turn you into a more careful being. I never bothered to check ingredients I put on my skin pre-motherhood. But now….. I recently learned about the Environmental Working Group (EWG.ORG), a non-profit, non-partisan organisation which aims to protect both human health and the environment. If you visit their website, you will see a lot of articles on the key issues on consumer products, farming, toxic products, and even water. Thankfully, they have a SEARCH TOOL that […]
