Just when I thought the baby showers were over, I came home one Sunday night with a surprise from our “Diksyonaryo Family”. Diksyonaryo ATBP. is a non-government organization lead by Lia Manalac-Del Castillo. We are all volunteers of her organization and have gone around the country to give dictionaries, other books, and school supplies to different communities.

Today, Diksyonaryo focuses more on its Book Mobile project, literally a mobile library that hopes to drive across the country to spread the love of reading to children.

I have traveled all the way to Sulu (and a sidetrip to Basilan) with some of the people here. We have also gone up to the Babuyan Group of Islands to build a library and fill it with donated books and new books from Diksyonaryo! These are just some of the places we’ve gone to for this advocacy. We’ve spent Lia’s birthday in different places – Benguet, Masbate, Occidental Mindoro if I remember correctly. We’ve also created other volunteer projects together!

For my baby shower #1, I asked the one who organized it to invite some people from Diksyonaryo, but I was mostly thinking about those who are parents already since it’s a baby shower, after all. Little did I know that even before that shower happened, this was already planned by Lia (who now does events, by the way! Follow her events company HERE). and the rest of the group. And they made sure to tell my husband to keep me out of the house on that particular Sunday. Good thing that’s really when I scheduled all the errands at the mall + some of the pamper me before I pop sessions like waxing, threading, and mani-pedi!

This was really a surprise, and I’m glad that many of them made it that night. The theme was #PabloGo hence the “Pokemon Go” decor theme (decorations = hardwork of fellow volunteer and friend Janeca Racho)! The super cute Pokemon Macarons were made by Maye Padilla, another volunteer and friend who really makes macarons! You can order her yummy and affordable macarons HERE. She can customize the macarons depending on your party’s theme. This was also her gift for our Filipiniana wedding and I dint even get to eat one that day; they ran out fast heehee!

After eating (potluck style), the fun games started. We had a “Mama and Baby P went to the market” relay game, a guessing game of baby photos, matching games (gestation period of animals, how nerdy and fun!), How Will Baby P Look Like? game, crossout games, etc. And the prizes were diabetes-inducing candies, haha! Thank you Fudge and Rex for hosting, and Marlo for the prizes!

The night ended with conversations on parenting styles, politics, views on mining, and everything in between! Of course, laughter echoed throughout the night.

This shower was really an unexpected one, and we can’t thank these people enough for thinking of us and celebrating this milestone with us.

We love you guys. Thank you again and again and again! We’re so happy to have you all in our lives!
